Biography
Robert Lowe, a 19th-century British politician, was born in Bingham, Nottinghamshire, England. Lowe attended Oxford University and temporarily practiced law. Due to his poor health, Lowe emigrated to Australia where he continued to dabble in the law. He was a proponent of a laissez-faire economy. He returned to Britain in 1850 and in 1852 he became a member of Parliament. Lowe continued to elevate within British government and he was elevated to the House of Lords as Viscount Sherbrooke in 1880.
