Virginia Dorcas (Loyall) Farragut was born in Norfolk, Virginia, daughter of William Loyall. In 1843, she married David Glasgow Farragut, the first Rear Admiral, Vice Admiral, and Admiral in the U.S. Navy. Virginia was his second wife. The couple had one child, Loyall Farragut. She is referenced in Frances "Fanny" Seward's 1866 diary as a participant in President Andrew Johnson's "Swing Around the Circle" tour, which made a stop in Auburn in August 1866.
