Thomas Hanson Belt was the father of Mary Key Belt Helmuth, the second wife of homeopathic physician William Sheaff Helmuth. He lived in Baltimore, MD, and was working as a Clerk according to the 1850 census.
In a letter William Helmuth wrote to Frances Miller Seward on March 21, 1861, he included an enclosed letter for William Henry Seward. This letter apparently included a plea on the behalf of Thomas Belt, although it is not known what for.
