Albany Sept 11.
An universal gloom pervades society here. The worst apprehen-
sions are indulged. The banks are becoming the rallying point
of all these apprehensions. The confidence of the business
men of the country in the conservative party was sadly shaken
by the election of Col. Polk
it has somewhat revived since the just retribution has
been awarded to Blair
I leave for Philadelphia at 5 p.m. shall be there on the
13th. You will hear from me there.
Nothing new here - Rathbone
very good spirits.
The Education address will be ready for delivery on my
return from Philada.
