New York April 18th 1838.
My dear Jennings,
After a weeks delay at Albany in attention
to the affairs interests and concerns of our political friends
I am at length here, and have commenced labor prepera-
tory to the consummation of my business here. How long
it will take I know not but, I hope to make it
as brief as perseverence and attention will permit.
Your favor of the 11th is here, I do not know
that I can give you any important aid or advice
only to save all apperance of harshness, as my friends
are now entirely confident that their past pressure
in my behalf will be made the policy of the party.
I wish you to write to Brown
