Dear Henry
Upon receipt of your letter I
concluded to wait no longer for dry roads
—and so took my horse & rode out, feeble
as I was, to Roots
conversation with him—and brought him
to a willingness, I think, to take the
farm & give a mortgage
at least, if no more, to agree to keep
possession till march next with a view
to sell his chance: & perhaps pay a
trifle—I shall take counsel in the
case & allow the judgment to lie

months—after which if he will
neither pay nor give possession, we can
eject him.—The present state of
his mind, I think will induce him
to make some mutually satisfactory
arrangement: & he says he will

there has not been one word said
about the name of the old "Robt Falco-

Nothing new.—Business dull.
The spring is backward. all the world
are inquiring if you do not intend
to avail yourself of the advantages
of the new bank law.
It was my purpose to draw off
a transcript of our last months
business, when I commenced this letter—
–but sundry calls have consumed
my time—tis now too late—I will
do it on Monday.
