Westfield Augst. 22. 1838
Dear Henry
I mentioned to Mr Dixon
Birth: 1787-07-23 Death: 1875-04-19Certainty: Probable
that
you would accept the Genl
Birth: 1775-07-16 Death: 1855-09-26
's offer – (Farns-
worth) – i.e. give him the lot at
principal & interest – he paying his
own costs. Dixon mentioned this
offer to the Gen. The Genl took the
Justices privilege – 4 days to consider.
He now calls on Dixon & says he
thinks the terms too hard – elects
to decline the offer on our part to
settle it in this way. Thinks
that Dixon has suffered the matter
to lie, unnecessarily long. Dixon
fears his censure to give further
time. I have begged off till you
can be heard from. The costs
amount to $124. Pray answer me
by return mail how I shall
settle this business.

is here – for whom you
sold a draft in N Y of £ 40.
– says he has always sold
at $4.84 per pound – the returns
give him $4.75 – he thinks
there must be an error – can
you explain it he is a
close fellow & complains.
