I have given some attention
to the examination of the probable ma-
jorities in the several towns: and
supposing that it may be of impor-
tance to you in making nice cal-
culations, to estimate carefully, I
am of opinion that an acceptable
nomination may draw out 17. or 1800
whig majority – perhaps a shade less.
The nomination most acceptable
would go 150 or 200 votes over.
I came home too late to
write you last night, what our
nomination was – Plum

talk of an hour about the
subtreasury, in Winslows long
room. 70 or 80 persons present –
the Lo co’s invited by sign
past notice – but all declining
to a man to attend.
Marvin says 1800 majort ^y^ – & 100 adds
