Westfield Dec 30. 1839
Dear Henry
Yours with check on
Albany for $1.000 – was recieved:
it is well that it was sent off &
deposited last week – since we
are smothered in snow & have
had no mail in three days.
Not a settler comes near us;
but it is a fine time to bring
up old business. We have just
completed the opening of the new
land legers. Our recepts are
falling off – & new & then a little
farm is sacrificed at mortgage
sale. Yours gratefully B.J. Seward
