April 7th 1840
Dear Sir
Your letter of March 30th has been received. I can
certainly acquit you of any unkind or ungenerous conduct
to your neighbours so far as any knowledge extends on the
contrary I always found you public spirited and benevolent
I have written to my brother
show all the forbearance he can in the conduct of his
business - I hope to see you and all my good friends in
Chautauque during the summer & will then convers freely
with you on all subject
