Westfield Nov’ 1841.
My dear Uncle,
Starr
Birth: 1781-03 Death: 1851-08-30
sent me a deed in my name, and
afterwards a letter saying that my request about the
Recording was not received in time.
With the deed came a draft, for back rents, of
$247 46/100. deducting from this for my travelling ex.
to Cin. $76 & for postage $4.18/100 there is left
$167.28. Shall I send you Clarence
Birth: 1828-10-07 Death: 1897-07-24
’s half?
Mrs S
Unknown
dare not know how “we three” stand in this
matter – how shall she be enlightened?
I send today a power of attorney to Starr to sell
and to rent. I supposed he must be allowed to judge
of prices and offers he exhibits a very friendly
spirit & waits my directions.
Pray drop me a line about these matters.
Respectfully
Your Nephew
Augustus S.
His Ex. W. H. Seward
I will write more at length but fear the minutia
of this business would only be troublesome.
