Washington Aug. 20th 1850
My dear Father,
I have used all the books
which you obtained for filing letters. There
are no more to be had, either at the
Senate, or at any of the bookstores. And
I have about 1500 letters remaining. What
shall I do with them? Would it answer
to leave them bound in volumes corresponding
to the others?
Affectionately your son
