BLATCHFORD, SEWARD & GRISWOLD,
29 NASSAU STREET,
CORNER OF CEDAR,
Room No. 20, (over Bank of Commerce,)
NEW YORK.
Address Box 217, Post Office.
New York: Dec: 30: 1857.
The Honorable
William H: Seward:
Washington
(D:C:)
My dear Uncle:
I have written to Messrs Mathew
Unknown
& Church
Unknown
or rather TaftUnknown
today propound-
ing divers and sundry categorical in-
quires, and when I receive their answer
I shall be better able to judge as to the
proper course to pursue to collect your
note. But as at present advised I
think patience to be the better virtue
if there is a reasonable prospect
that the first of March will bring
the money. A suit against a stock –
holder or against the assignees would,
if defunded, postpone fruition to a
much later day.
I will advise you of the answer
of Mathew & Taft and I am
Ever gratefully
Your Nephew
C: A: Seward:
