Formerly of the Auburn Ex. B'k.
Banking House
of
Wm. H. Seward, Jr. & Co.
Auburn, N.Y., Aug 15 th 1861
Esq., Cashier.
Dear Sir:

My dear Father
Enclosed I send
four drafts for Dividends for
you to sign
About two weeks since Mr Cobb
Birth: 1798-09-09 Death: 1872-12-17

Secy of the Auburn Semitary Assn
recd a letter from Mr Grier
Birth: 1802-09-27 Death: 1878-12-20
, saying
that he should expect the principal
and interest of the $1000 note.
At Mr Cobbs request I wrote Mr
Grier that the Assn had made
arrangements to pay the interest on
the 22d of Aug but not the
principal. Mr Cobb says that you
told him if the interest was paid
promptly the principal would not
be required for a few years

and under this impression they
had paid up the Mortgage held
by the Saveings Bank this year
instead of this note and that
they had made arrangements to pay
this note within the next two
or three years.
Mr Grier writes me that he
sent my letter to you but recd
no reply and therefore shall
demand the principal.
The note has been assumed as
a debt against the Assn as well
as the individual Directors.
Your affectionate son
Wm H Seward Jr
