Newport, Friday
My dear Father,
I have yours of
the 15th, telling me of your arrival
at Washington, and the dinner
to the Queen
Birth: 1836-01-02 Death: 1885-04-25
of Hawaii. I am
glad you were there to entertain
her, but sorry you could not
have a longer respite at
Auburn. Everybody here expresses
much regret that you did not
come here, as they had all
persuaded themselves that you
would.
Affectionately yours
F.W.S.
Baron Osten Sacken
Birth: 1828-08-21 Death: 1906-05-20
, the
Russian Consul at New York
came today to introduce his
countryman, Prince Nicholas
Ouronsoff
Unknown
, who is making an
American tour, and proposes to
go West to shoot buffalo. He
is desirous to have an informal
letter introducing him to General
Sherman
Birth: 1820-02-08 Death: 1891-02-14
or any military comman-
der at St. Louis. I told him
I would lay his request before
you.
