Biography:
Father-in-law of Thomas Jefferson. Unknown when he emigrated to Virginia, although it was likely sometime in the 1730s. He established his home at The Forest, the name of his plantation/property, in Charles City County, Virginia. His first wife and the mother of Martha Jefferson died shortly after her birth. He married two other times, and both wives died early. Upon his death, he left substantial property and debt, which took years for Thomas Jefferson and the other co-executors of Wayles' estate to deal with.
