My very dear Mother,
I have not heard from you
for some time, except per Mary Cummins
Birth: 1816-05-11 Death: 1892-01-18
’s letter. I hope you are all as well as usual
though the time seems long when I do not
hear from you –
I have just heard from Henry
Birth: 1801-05-16 Death: 1872-10-10
of the loss oftheir dear babe
Birth: 1836-08-25 Death: 1837-01-14
I feel deeply for them atthe same time I very much fear for
Frances
Birth: 1805-09-24 Death: 1865-06-21
that it will be prejudicial to herhealth how could that little creature have
been exposed to that horrible disease –
We are of a great stand about emigrating
Dr
Birth: 1798-11-26 Death: 1865-01-05
wishes to go West – but I do not feel quitewilling – I think we could do well at Florida
or Goshen, & Mahlon thinks so too, but fears
it would not be agreeable for us to go there
sometimes we are almost persuaded
To influence by argument, advice, or intreaty • To convince by arguments, or reasons offered •
to makearrangements to leave here early next spring
but I fear there is no such good news. I’m growing
more and more tired of this lonely place –
a captain
Unknown
from a wreck has just arrived forwhom we must get some supper, & lodge tonight
no lives lost nothing except the loss of the
vessel and cargo – Our children

in better health than usual Mahlon
has just returned from Trenton where he has
^been^ sent to help to get our County divided.
in haste I am as ever
