November 27, 1848 was a Monday, so we have dated this letter November 28.
My dear Henry
I have written this
morning to Baltimore but fearing
the letter may not reach
you I write to N. York also.
I expect Lazette
to day on their way to
Flatbush – Frances has been
so ill that they could
not leave home at the
time proposed – I am
seriously alarmed about
Frances – she is evidently
getting worse – I fear they
are going without any escort
I would it were otherwise –
Do see them before you

return – The moment they
reach here and I can
ascertain their arrangements
I will write – I suppose
now they will be at
Flatbush as early as the
2nd of Dec – but cannot
be positive – Our house
is again all in confusion
Mr. McGregor came
yesterday morning –
No news from Augustus
all well – Your own
Frances
