Thursday 26th
My dear Henry
Our little girl
continues to improve she
would be glad to day
to be dressed and sit
up but the Dr
consent while she has
any fever– I received
your letter from Baltimore
yesterday after dinner
but not until I had been
to Dr Berkey
it will be as well as
I see no immediate prospect
of getting away with Fanny
and I do not now care
to be in Baltimore long
before you return–

They tell me you cannot
reach Charleston before
the 27th– Mr Lavender
called last evening – Mr
& Mrs Randall
before and yesterday Mr
Randall came to enquire
after Fanny– Mrs Wilson
was here this morning while
I was at Dr Berkeys–
Marianna Mott
see me yesterday and
is to call again this
afternoon to assist me in
finding a woolen polka
for Fanny– I am told
that Mr
are here though I do
not see them at table
My next letter will be
directed to Washington
though should any thing

occur to make it
necessary I can send
a Telegraph Message
to Charleston as late as the
29th Let me know when
you will be at Baltimore
and I will make my
arrangements accordingly –
I am sorry that I shall
hear nothing from home
as all the letters will be
sent to Washington & Baltimore
Fanny says I must write
a little letter from her and
tell Father she is better
