My Dear Cousin Fred,
I am about to
trouble you with a letter
which was handed me
some time since – by my
friend Mr Morgan
Unknown
– who
is a friend of the writer
of the enclosed letter which
explains itself–
Of the persons
or circumstances I know noth-
ing – except through Mr Morgan
whom we have long known
as a man of great worth
and who speaks highly of Mr

I suppose the proper person
to consult – would be Secretary
Wells
Birth: 1802-07-02 Death: 1878-02-11
– but I do not feel quite
courageous enough to address
him –
If you think it of any
avail will you show it
to Secretary Wells.
I presume
this to be but one of many
hundred cases – since the
war commenced and only
at the earnest solicitation
of Mr Morgan – that I
trouble you knowing your
hands must be overburdened
in sharing so much care
with Uncle Henry
Birth: 1801-05-16 Death: 1872-10-10
.
It is for
his relief that I write to

you.
My regards to Anna
Birth: 1834-03-29 Death: 1919-05-02

if she is with you – also
to Uncle –
Very truly
Yours
Cousin Mary
