Albany, Nov. 4 th 1857
My dear Father,
It seems that
I am always writing to you for
help of one sort or another. This
time it is for your endorsement
on my note at the Commercial
Bank for $500, which matures
again next Monday.

yet about the result of the Election,
not venturing to claim a victory
but unwilling to believe in a
defeat. Your dispatch came
about an hour ago, in good time
for the Weekly, though not early
enough to get into the Daily edition.
Affectionately your son
Frederick
