Anthony Kennedy

Biography
Anthony Kennedy was a politician from Maryland, and the brother of John Pendleton Kennedy, who was also a politician. Anthony first served as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 1839-1843. He unsuccessfully ran for Congress as a Whig in 1844 and served in the Maryland House of Delegates in 1856. He was elected to national office in 1856 as a Senator from Maryland, where he was a member of the American Party. He held this position until 1863.
Anthony and his wife, Sarah, had three children, and he died in Annapolis in 1892.
