Biography
In December 1857, Blondeel became Belgian resident minister in Washington and, in February 1859, ambassador/envoy extraordinary and minister plenipotentiary for Belgium. In preparation for this posting, Blondeel toured the southern parts of the United States (1860) to explore the possibilities of direct trade. Left post in Washington in 1864 or 1865.
