In Historical Records of a Hundred and Twenty Years: Auburn, N.Y., he is mentioned: "In 1845 Doubleday purchased the plant and again carried on the Patriot for one year, at which time he removed from town. The paper was then sold to Henry A. Hawes and Henry M. Stone."
