Biography

Mathew Livingston Davis was an Anti-Mason politician and journalist. He published the New York "Evening Post." He was present at the duel between Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton, after which he went to jail rather than testify against his friend. He later published a biography on Aaron Burr. He is mentioned in AHW's letter to WHS [18321123AHW_WHS] as a "broken down politician".
