Biography

John Fitzroy DeCourcy was a Major of the Turkish Contingent of the 47th Lancashire Regiment of Foot. He was decorated with the award of Knight, Order of the Medjidie (4th Class). He was also Stipendiary Magistrate of San Juan, Vancouver Island. John Fitzroy DeCourcy served during the Crimean War and in 1861 he was commissioned as Colonel of the 16th Ohio Volunteer Infantry by the United States. On April 15, 1874 he succeeded as 24th Lord Kingsale.
