John Thomson Ford was born in Baltimore, MD. He worked in the theater business both in Baltimore and Washington, D.C. He led to the building of three theaters in D.C., including Ford's Theater, in which Abraham Lincoln was assassinated. He and his brother were imprisoned in the Capital Prison for 39 days due to the assassination, but were released and fully exonerated. He lived a long time after.
