Biography

Adam Gurowski was a multilingual, educated man who published various political works, studied in several countries (Poland, Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy) and served in Washington, D.C. as a translator until his death. He was part of the Seward family's social circle. For example, Fanny Adeline Seward recounts in her 1862-1863 diary that he had joined them for dinner.
