   New York born politician and Rutgers graduate. Congressman of NY from 1859-1863, 1867-1869, and 1870-1871. He moved to Nebraska in 1874 and served as state senator from 1876-1880 and US senator from 1881-1887. In September 1861 be became colonel of the 56th N.Y.  Infantry.
