Augusta Jay Balch Peabody was the daughter of Lewis Penn Witherspoon Balch, a clergyman who spent part of his career in Baltimore. Either Augusta or her sister Elizabeth were close friends with Nina Napier, whose husband Francis was the British Minister to the US.
Augusta was married twice, first to John Nielson of Salem, MA. Her second marriage was to George Augustus Peabody, also of Salem, in 1881. She did not have any children.

Biography: Augusta Jay Balch Peabody was the daughter of Lewis Penn Witherspoon Balch, a clergyman who spent part of his career in Baltimore. Either Augusta or her sister Elizabeth were close friends with Nina Napier, whose husband Francis was the British Minister to the US.
Augusta was married twice, first to John Nielson of Salem, MA. Her second marriage was to George Augustus Peabody, also of Salem, in 1881. She did not have any children.
