Mentioned by Frances to William Henry Seward in a letter from Nov. 16, 1842, “Today I am engaged in having a close stove put up in the nursery—the birdies cannot keep warm… I have no place for the birds unless I keep a constant fire in the nursery which at present is quite as well.”
