Biography
Grandson of King Louis Philippe I of France. Brought up in Germany and England. He went to military school at Turin, in Italy. He served with his brother in the Army of the Potomac during the Civil War. Robert Philippe Louis Eugene Ferdinand d'Orleans eventually returned to France and became a major in the French army in 1871. However a governmental decree led him to be removed from his position in 1883 and sent him into exile in 1886.
