Biography
Hiram Barney was Collector of the Port of New York from 1861 - 1864. He was first married to Susannah Tappan. One of their sons, Lewis Tappan Barney, became a highly decorated officer during the American Civil War. Hiram Barney married again after his first wife's death. His second wife was Harriet E. Kilburne; they married in 1880.
