Biography
Robert Murray was a U.S. Marshal from 1861 until 1869. When he made an unjust arrest in 1864 of a man named Edward Underhill, he admitted it. Murray was involved in the capture (also referred to at the time as "kidnapping") and extradition of Jose Agustin Arguelles. For this, he went through a trial now known as The People vs. Robert Murray et al. (The trial and scandal are mentioned in letter 18640621FWS_TxW.) His career as a U.S. Marshal continued for five more years.
