Excerpt: His father, Rufus Freeman Andrews (b. Medina, Ohio, May 27, 1825, d. New York City April 27, l893) was also a graduate of Dartmouth College in 1862. He was a lawyer in New York City, and in July 1861 was Surveyor for the Port of New York under Abraham Lincoln. He was a delegate from New York to the Republican National Convention in Baltimore in 1864. After his marriage to Mary Cornelia Fletcher (b. Cavendish, Vermont, April 4, 1828) in Cavendish, Vermont they lived in New York City. In 1870 they were living on Park Avenue. In 1899 his law offices were located at 38 Park Row, Manhattan.
