Biography

Simon Langham was elected Archbishop of Canterbury in 1366, but he gave up his post in 1368 to go to the Papal Court when he received a cardinal's hat from Pope Urban V. He died and was buried in Avignon in 1376, but his body was moved to Westminster Abbey in 1379. In 18330724WHS_FMS1, Henry mentions seeing the monument at the tomb of Simon Langham in the chapel of St Benedict in Westminster Abbey.
