Biography

William Shubrick was an officer in the US Navy whose active career extended from 1806-1861. He served during both the War of 1812 and the Mexican-American War, but retired during the early stages of the Civil War. Shubrick studied at Harvard and then accepted a job as a midshipman in 1806. He was an instrumental part of the Navy during his time serving, leading to several ships in the US Navy being named the USS Shubrick for him. He retired in December 1861 and was promoted to Rear Admiral on the retired list in July of 1862. He married Harriet Shubrick in 1815 and they had one child together.
