Biography

Charles Eldred was born in Rhode Island, but census records in 1855 and later show him living in Auburn. He married Matilda Eldred (nee Spink) on June 29, 1820, in Rhode Island. It seems as if Charles was friends with Elijah Miller, because in a letter on June 9, 1850, Frances Miller Seward writes to William Henry Seward "Mr Eldred stayed with Grandpa." Charles and Matilda had two children: Hannah M S Eldred (b. 1821-1854) and Nicholas Boone Spink Eldred (b. 1824-1878).
