Biography
Reverend Charles P Bragdon was a minister at the Methodist Episcopal Church. He married Sarah W. (nee Cushman) on June 5, 1838. They had five children: Sarah L. Bragdon, Mary E. Bragdon, Charles Cushman Bragdon, Merritt C. Bragdon, and George E. Bragdon. Charles Cushman Bragdon and Merritt C. Bragdon were both born when the family lived in Auburn, N.Y. during the late 1840s and early 1850s. In 1852 Reverend Bragdon established a First Methodist Episcopal Church Sunday School and congregation in Geddes, New York. The family moved to Evanston, Illinois in 1858, when Reverend Bragdon was sent there to become pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal Church.
