Biography

Alexander White attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and served in the Seminole War in 1836. He was admitted to the bar in 1838 and elected as a Whig to Congress 1851-1853. He continued to practice law until he was elected as a member to the State house of representatives in 1872, and then elected as a Republican to Congress 1873-1875. In 1876 he moved to Dallas, Texas where he returned to his law practice until his death in 1893.
