Biography

The Widow Douglas is a fictional character from Mark Twain's novel, Huckleberry Finn. At the end of the book, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, the Widow Douglas had adopted Huck. Widow Douglas' husband had been a Justice of the Peace. She is portrayed as a wealthy, respected, kind, and generous woman. But, her attempts to "civilize" Huck, continuously fail. She wants him to go to church and school, but Huck wants to continue living like a homeless person.
