Biography
John La Farge was born in New York City. He worked as a mural painter, landscape painter, and book illustrator. He illustrated books including Enoch Arden and Sonds from the Old Dramatists. He painted the interior of Boston's Trinity church, as well as the chancel of churches in New York City and Boston. He also painted parts of the Vanderbilt mansion. One of his most well-known works is his painting of the "Battle Window" in the Memorial hall at Harvard.
