Biography

Brady was born, lived and eventually died in New York City. His father founded a boys school which he later attended. He studied legal material in his father's office who had left teaching to become a lawyer. Brady was admitted to New York bar in 1835 or 1836. He was a democrat at first but became a supporter of Lincoln after the civil war broke out. He became the interim district attorney for new york county in 1843 and was appointed corporation counsel in 1845. He run unsuccessfully for attorney general of New York in 1850.
