Biography

Johann Bernhard was born in Bavaria. He entered the Austrian diplomatic service in 1828. In 1834, he married Barbara Jone, and they had one son together, Count Louis. Johann assisted Prince Metternich in his flight to England in 1848 after the revolutions that year. He became the Austrian Foreign Minister in 1859. He resigned from this position in 1864.
