Biography
Lord Augustus Loftus was born in Bristol England. He served as a foreign diplomat in Germany and at several European courts. In 1845, he married Emma Maria, with whom he had five children. In 1879, he was appointed "governor and commander-in-chief of New South Wales and its dependencies." In 1887, he left New South Wales and was declared bankrupt. He published four volumes of his Reminisces.
