Biography

Marco Minghetti played an active role in the unification processes of Italy, serving multiple political roles, including secretary-general of the Piedmontese foreign office (1859), minister of agriculture of Italy, and prime minister of Italy (1863-4, 1873-6).  On November 6, 1859, William Henry Seward refers to meeting the Secretary of State during his visit to the King Victor Emmanuel II of Piedmont-Sardinia at Turin, which likely refers to Minghetti in his role of secretary-general Piedmont's foreign office.
