Daughter of Jabez Davis Hawks and Lydia Worth (Wood) Hawks of Buffalo, NY, her father seems to have been a California pioneer, her mother was the daughter of John Wood and Eunice Barnard (Irish) Wood of Auburn, NY, she seems to have resided for some time in the house of her aunt and uncle Cyrus Cornell Dennis and Eunice Barnard (Wood) Dennis, she is buried alongside her mother in Fort Hill Cemetery. Fanny Seward recalls her presence at a lakeside outing in her 1862-63 diary.
