Biography

Edward McPherson was a US Representative from Pennsylvania. He studied there and went on to edit several papers before being elected to the 36th and 37th Congresses. After his tenure as an elected official, he served as a clerk, the president of the Republican National Convention, Director of the US Bureau of Engraving and Printing, and again, an editor of several papers. He is mentioned in Fanny Adeline Seward's 1862-1863 diary as one of a group of people that dined with her.
