Sister of Hugh McNeil, Mary was a student at Irvington near New York when her brother died in 1862 and accompanied his body to Auburn, NY. She is mentioned in Fanny Seward's 1862-1863 diary. She is listed living with her sister Marion (McNeil) Eaton in the 1860 census. In 1888 memorial for her sister Elizabeth (McNeil) Goodwin, it is indicated that she had previously deceased.
