Grandson of American Revolutionary hero Philip John Schuyler. Born in Rhinebeck, NY, civil engineer and yachting aficionado. Married granddaughters of Alexander Hamilton, first, Eliza Hamilton, and second, Mary Morris Hamilton. Had an estate in Dobbs Ferry, NY. Fanny Seward references "Mr. Schuyler" in her 1862-1863 diary calling upon them at their Washington, D.C. home.
